On Tuesday, Google dedicated its doodles celebration in honor of the 32nd anniversary of Swedish superstar DJ, producer, songwriter and humanitarian Tim Bergling — best known by his stage name Avicii. During his short career, Avicii redefined the dance-pop scene by mixing electronic music with many different genres of music.

The videodoodle, featured in one of Avic’s most famous songs, “Wake Me Up,” was created by artists Alyssa Winans, Olivia When and Sophie Diao.

Born in 1989 in Stockholm, Tim began mixing music in his bedroom at the age of 16. Between 2011 and 2016, Bergling played an estimated 220 Avicii series around the world, including a five-year residence in Ibiza and sold-out performances at Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe Arena for 16,000 people. In addition to breaking sound boundaries with hits like the 2013 bluegrass-house hybrid “Wake Me Up,” it was also among the first DJs and producers to share a spotlight previously reserved for singers and instrumentalists.

In 2012, Bergling also embarked on a “House for Hunger” American tour that donated its proceeds to the fight against food security worldwide. That same year, Madonna joined her to close the Miami Ultra Music Festival, where the couple broke the festival’s live stream viewing program.

Within a few years, Bergling collected more than a dozen global music awards, including the Swedish Grammis Award for Best Innovator (2012) and Best Artist (2014), as well as the World Music Award for Best Electronic Dance Artist (2014). In the United States, she was nominated for several Grammy Awards and won the American Music Award for Electronic Dance Music Artists (2013), the Billboard Music Award for Top Dance / Electronic Song (2014), and the MTV Music Award for Best Dance Music Video (2018).

Google spoke to Avic with his father Klas Bergling about his son and mental health. “Doodle is fantastic, my family and I feel honored and Tim would have been very proud and loved it. It’s a friendly and warm story about a young man who realizes his dream of being a DJ and tells us that the journey of our lives isn’t always easy despite his reputation and wealth, ”he said.

In 2021, it was announced that Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe Arena would be transformed into Avicii Arena. This initiative is led by the Tim Bergling Foundation, an organization founded by the Bergling family to honor Tim’s life and heritage, eliminate the stigma associated with suicide, and promote mental health awareness, especially among young people around the world.
